Parth Khamkar

Parth Khamkar is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering and will graduate in the Spring 2024 semester. He completed his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. During his bachelor’s, he enrolled in courses such as Manufacturing Planning and Control, Supply Chain Management, Project Management and Lean and Green Manufacturing which motivated him to enroll in the IMSE course. Khamkar has interned in various companies with Volvo being the latest one. he was on the logistics team and worked on many projects throughout the internship period. His future goals are to be in a manufacturing and production setting which can challenge his skills and help him to hone his skills.

Internship Details

Khamkar interned at Volvo, Dublin as a logistics engineer and worked on many projects throughout the internship period. Some of his responsibilities were:

1. Assisting in the development and updating of the logistics Plan for Every Part (PFEP), ensuring better material replenishment, improved material flow from docks to POU, and increased data accuracy.
2. Reviewing budgets from past years and performing a quick Kaizen to the design of fleets, saving $25k/year.
3. Designing and implementing a Power BI-based seasonality tool that proactively identifies and flags instances where demand surpasses capacity at critical use points, effectively averting part shortages.
4. Utilizing AutoCAD to create, update and maintain warehouse layout designs, resulting in efficient space optimization and improved mapping accuracy.
