Giving Back
Last Updated: 07/20/2022 and all information on this page is accurate and up-to-date
The generosity of our alumni and friends drives innovation in education and research.
All gifts to the program allow our students and faculty to fulfill their dreams and positively impact their lives. Your gift can support scholarships, fellowships, professorships, academic programs and faculty research. These and other initiatives are not typically supported through state appropriations. Your generosity empowers IMSEI to achieve excellence in our research, teaching and public engagement mission.
Thank you for your support!

IMSEI Enhancement Fund
The IMSEI Enhancement Fund addresses one of the program’s greatest needs, discretionary support. Every year we face the challenge of uncertain and shifting resources. Additionally, unexpected opportunities arise that require swift action. Discretionary funds allow the IMSEI Director to quickly respond to these opportunities and challenges. Over the last few years, these funds have supported:
- Awards recognition for students
- Staff and faculty
- New courses and programs
- And much more
Your generosity immediately impacts a student’s educational experience and life and supports the next exciting discovery in industrial engineering.
A gift of $1,000 or more to the IMSEI Enhancement Fund will earn you membership in the Engineering Foundation’s Dean’s Circle. This is a comprehensive recognition society for all unrestricted gifts of $1,000 or more to the College of Engineering and its departments and programs.
Invest in the Future
To continue to flourish as a program of research and higher education, we must supply a steady stream of innovative research and continue to inspire leaders who will achieve in an increasingly global workforce. We seek your investment and participation in meeting our vision.

Be sure to include a note with your check that states the purpose of your gift. The gift can then be easily recorded and you will be issued a receipt for your tax records. For more ways to give outright, see the Engineering Foundation’s Outright Gift Options.
Steve and Carolyn Jackson Fund for Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Steve Jackson retired in the summer of 2021 after a long term as the Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute Director. One word that could describe Steve Jackson and his career is multidisciplinary. Maybe not a term often used to describe someone, but it fits in this case. Jackson received all three of his degrees from NC State, each in a different engineering discipline (Civil, Integrated Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical).

Other Ways to Support IMSEI
There are many ways for you to make a gift to the IMSE Program. We are happy to discuss any of the giving options in more detail and invite you to contact Wanda Urbanska | wmurbans@ncsu.edu who is happy to answer all your questions.
Fitts-Woolard Hall Fund
Fitts-Woolard Hall is the crucial next step in ISE’s move to Centennial Campus, providing critical infrastructure that allows faculty members and students to leverage the power of convergence across disciplines in an atmosphere unmatched anywhere in the nation.
Fundraising for the private funds needed to complete Fitts-Woolard Hall has been underway with excellent success. Our alumni and friends have pledged substantial leadership gifts in support of Fitts-Woolard Hall construction. However, the College still needs to raise about $40 million in private funds to reach its goal and fully fund Fitts-Woolard Hall.
For more information, go to our Fitts-Woolard Hall page.

Endowed Professorships
Endowed professorships are the most important vehicle for recruiting and retaining talented research faculty. Endowments create funds that are used for salary support and research activities, including graduate assistants, equipment and course development. Through a matching program for distinguished professorships, the North Carolina General Assembly demonstrates its commitment to higher education and the importance that research faculty have on the state, its economy and the education of its citizens.
For more information about levels of endowed professorships, see NC State’s Engineering Foundation’s Faculty Support.

Graduate Fellowships
Graduate students are primary innovation agents within research-intensive engineering schools like ours. Private support is essential to succeeding in the intense competition for top graduate students. Many of these students innovate in ways that can boost North Carolina’s economy for years to come. The minimum level to endow a graduate fellowship, which will be named for the donor in perpetuity, is $300,000.
For more information about levels of endowed professorships, see NC State’s Engineering Foundation’s Graduate Fellowships.

Merit- and Need-based Scholarships
Endowed scholarships provide donors with the most incredible opportunity to impact the most significant number of lives. These endowments are crucial to our ability to draw the best students from North Carolina and beyond into the College of Engineering, where their education will propel them to become the leaders of tomorrow. An endowment of $150,000 generates annual income roughly equivalent to a full year of tuition and fees. Endowments can be established for a minimum of $25,000.
For more information about levels of endowed professorships, see NC State’s Engineering Foundation’s Graduate Fellowships.

Enhanced Academic Programs
Through its many academic programs, the IMSE program provides students with many opportunities to broaden their experiences. Donors can build new opportunities, enhance existing programs to foster collaboration and team-building, and expose students and faculty to new and vital ideas.
