Financial Aid and Scholarship FAQ
Complete the FAFSA® (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at https://fafsa.gov/. Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and quick. See NC State’s NC State’s Applying for Aid.
The Net Price Calculator on NC State’s website can help you estimate your aid and out-of-pocket expenses.
If you need more information, you will get a letter from this office. Follow-up requests are sent by email. You can also check online by logging into MyPack Portal and going to your financial aid page.
The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will send an email to your NC State email address to notify you. You can also view awards in the My Financial Aid section of MyPack Portal.
If you submit the FAFSA and other required documents by March 1, you should receive an award decision in early April.
The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid awards scholarships, as do the colleges of engineering and sciences.
If you apply for admission by November 1, you will automatically be considered for merit scholarships.

To be considered for need-based scholarships, apply for admission by November 1 and for aid by March 1. Also, you need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for need-based scholarships.
