Internships and Co-ops FAQ
Before you can begin an internship or co-op, you must complete two semesters and maintain good academic standing.
Typically, you are responsible for finding your own internship or co-op.
Using NC State’s Career Development Center (CDC) resources is a great place to start.
To complete a solid project paper, you must spend about seven months at your internship or co-op.
Yes.
Yes, you may need to do multiple co-ops to gain enough experience and knowledge to complete your research paper.
Yes, many of our DE students do this. However, the project must be suitable for an engineering project paper. We encourage you to contact the IMSE Director to discuss the project scope and ensure it meets the requirements.
